Cool organ! Gives off a very melancholic feeling and establishes the mood well if that's what you were going for. Didn't really like that it was the same two chords throughout the entire track, and since the vocals are a little too sparsed out, I was hoping there would be a little bit more variation coming in from the instruments.

The drum samples seem a little too minimal when I'm trying to relate them to the rest of the instruments going on. I don't think a ton of compression and reverb would have been necessary for something like this, but I was thinking of something more along the lines of filtering and heavy EQ scooping to sort of deviate away from an old school hip hop vibe and more towards something a little bit more experimental and left field. I felt like the clicks you hear at 2:30 are more appropriate than the snare sample you previously used. Something like that.

All the other nuances contribute very well to the organ very well. I liked the chill little guitar that comes in intermittently to throw a bit more movement into the mix. The delay effect was pretty cool for the headphones. ^__^

I'm digging the theme of the track, but since there is very little vocal work, only two chords in the entire track, and very few melodies to carry everything forward, the feeling wears off pretty fast. It's a interesting tune, albeit drawn out a little bit.

SoulSecure responds:

It is meant to be simple and chill, two chords are appropriate.
It's not an organ, but a washed out synth that is layered with an oscillating synth.
I have used no compression in this song.
I have tried adding more vocals and it sucks. I like it the way it is.
The song is influenced by lounge, trip-hop and chillout styles, a snare is appropriate.

The only reason this is under 'experimental' is because none of the other genres are available on NG.

I'm not nearly as good as you on piano, so I can't give you the feedback on that aspect. It sounds totally awesome to me, so I'll let someone else with more experience try to tell you what's up.

What I can point out is that the thunder and rain sample was a little overbearing on the mix. Did you EQ down some areas? Nice classical playing though, man!

voliavithan responds:

The thunder is just my trick to add a little feel to it but you're right
I'm not very good at EQ, in fact I'm still practicing. Thank you very much for your feedback.
I also make Electro music ( and of course there will be more thunder, I can't help it ). Check this out

Pretty chill chords and some good knocking here. You threw me in a loop when you reversed those last couple of notes. I was like, "Dude, awesome!"

HowardWimshurst responds:

Thanks for the review dude, I love it when people comment. Truth is, I ran out of stuff to play! So I reversed a section hehe

That's a really punchy set of drums, but they feel a little too mechanical for me. Maybe you can liven them up with a little reverb. A couple of the sounds in the intro sounded a little cheesy, but that's just my personal tastes. Thought that vocal sound was pretty cool in the break at 1:04, but this is a pretty weird mix you got going on.

DnB breakdown was nice, but let me emphasize on the reverb thing I said earlier, because I know what you mean when you say your mix feels a little "soulless." Focus on some other subtleties like delay and stereo effects if you want to breathe a little more life into your track.

My two cents. I may not know what I'm talking about!

Stapless responds:

thanks for the review, i was reading up on reverbs tips up before, so i'll your two cents as good value. :P

Dude, you got those garage drums going on! Lead is super fun to listen to as well. Very gritty mix. I like it!

ZLEAP responds:

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Helluva good track here. Everything is panned nice and all the instruments are fairly clear. Can't say I like some of the percussion all that much, though. It's pretty easy to tell which samples are one shots and which ones aren't. Pretty much everything else I give two thumbs waaaay up.

UltimateCJ64 responds:

Yeah I can't blame you on the drums, I still have the shitty GB drums, but I gotta make do with what I got for now. Thanks for the review bro, glad you enjoyed it. *thumbs up* :D

Amazing!

It's quite an accomplishment to make someone feel calm and peaceful through a song. Great job!

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

Im glad I did, that was one of my main goals when making this.

Nice!

My favorite parts were the very beginning and end. It reminded me of when I used to play Maplestory. Don't know why... Anyways, the song was pretty catchy, but the same saw being used got a little repetitive. I almost felt bored in the middle of the song. Keep making music, though! Later.

montehawks responds:

Haha personally I've never heard of Maplestory.

The saw you're hearing is actually 'Trance Saws Wide', 'German Trumpet 3', and 'Just Too Fat' off the Nexus plugin all played together. Trance Saws Wide is dominant over the others, obviously.

In newer versions I'll make to sure to try and add new instruments, thanks for the review, I completely understand how it can get repetitive with the same instrument.
