Cool track! I can definitely hear some pokemon influence in this. The sense of a video game battle is definitely upon me when the drums hit. One issue I have is with the intro before the drums. There are a variety of instruments being used, but they don't seem to be held together very well in the mix. I think it's because a lot of the instruments are using light and airy tones, and there's nothing much there to keep the mix grounded. That's just my thoughts! Keep making music!

AndreWharn responds:

Thank you so much! I'll surely keep doing them! ^^

Dark, mean, and a little mysterious. Definitely sounds like the finance world!

Just loving by your bass production and mixing. It might distract from the fact that the higher end of the spectrum is constantly throwing out some sort of ear candy every few bars. It was one of those cases of me not catching everything the first time around so I had to listen to it again. Fantastic track and best of luck, friend.

I see potential. You seem to have a basic grasp of music theory and song structure. If you put in some work with getting decent soundfonts, finding your sound, and honing in on your skill, I think you could really stand out!

Just my opinion. I'm not an authority on music, but I can at least scout you.

Thank you so much!!

Truly the best remix we can possibly be graced with. <3

Really good stuff! Your bass mixing is terrific.

This is killer. What equipment did you use for recording?

Baumarius responds:

Thanks! Here's the list of my equipment:

Mic: Electro-Voice RE27
Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro
Monitors: Alesis M1 Active Mk2
DAC's/Interfaces: Topping E30, JDS Labs Atom, Focusrite Scarlett Solo
Midi Keyboards: M-Audio Keystation 49es, Arturia Minilab mk II
Software: Ableton Live, Composer Cloud, EW Spaces II, Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra, Omnisphere, Guitar Rig, Manipulator, Reference 4, Youlean Loudness Meter, iZotope Ozone/Neutron/RX8/Tonal Balance Control, ASIO Link Pro
Instruments: Didgeridoo, 16" Thunder Drum, Duduk
PC: 5950x, 1660 Super, CTR (Nvidia enables me to multithread Ableton, effectively allowing me to compose at 192k with this processor)

Not all of these were used in the recording of this specific song, but it is generally what I use. Because of interference issues and the fact that I didn't have a deadcat, I wasn't able to record the birds with my mic. I ended up fixing the noise problem with RX8, which has excellent noise removal functions.

Hat, ride, and piano really nail the sleuthing, but idk. Maybe a bit too heavy on the reverb? Hope you get to feeling better!

Really neat synthy bit! Where you placed the instruments in the mix is little questionable to my tastes. For example, having the bass blaring from the sides while the hat sits front and center just feels awkward to me. I still get that retro, 1980's vintage feel that the genre offers in spite of all that though! It definitely does sound like a PSA from back in the day if the musician was given a little more creative license than normal lol.

Demonicity responds:

yeah it lacks a sidechain which i forgot to add

Very cool and very mean track! Always love to hear the Doom OST, and could definitely imagine this being a part of it.

This really helped take a load off of a really stressful day. You da best

larrynachos responds:
